Blog, what is my positioning?

Why write blogs?#

  1. Promote oneself, a cheap and simple way;
  2. Compare with reality, meet more talented people, let more people know oneself;
  3. Improve one's thinking and communication skills (this requires communication);
  4. Bring new traffic, new customers, and customers and traffic can convert each other.

How to build a successful blog?#

  1. Persistently update, at least 1 post per week, so at least 52 posts can be produced per year;
  2. High-quality content that benefits oneself and others will bring returns. Value exchange is the key;
  3. Each article should be able to solve at least one problem.
  • Think about those people we are willing to actively follow. Don't they all have their unique value in a certain field? Self-promotion is about proving one's value to others.
  • Telling others "I am the coolest blogger in the world" is not beneficial to oneself, but if you can help others solve the problems they encounter, they will think you are great.

Having recognized the benefits that blogs can bring and being inspired to build a successful blog, the next question is👇

What should I write?#

Since I entered university, the phrase that has had the greatest impact on me is "problem-oriented".

Think about it, no matter what people do, they have a purpose/need, which is actually to solve a certain problem.

Everyone, at every moment, must have some questions in their minds, more or less. Since the purpose of a blogger writing a blog is to promote oneself, it must be aimed at attracting people. Since people are more willing to pay attention to those who solve their problems, the answer to "what kind of content should be written" is: the routines and methods for solving problems.

This way, it will be more helpful to achieve the goal.

If you feel that there is nothing to write, the best method is to jot down these questions whenever you encounter them in your daily life, make a list of questions, so that you always have a bunch of topics to choose from.

If you really can't come up with anything, then turn what you have recently learned into technical documents or something similar, and record it.

The path of writing a blog can be simply summarized as: discover problems + find answers + collect evidence + share = provide value.

My principles for writing blogs (this section will be updated irregularly)#

The following are the requirements I have set for myself:

  1. At least 1-2 posts per week, spend 3 days writing one article (develop the habit of checking, correcting, and supplementing);
  2. Clearly define the positioning. The following are the contents I will focus on in 2023:
    • Knowledge management
    • Classification, logical thinking
    • Personal management system
    • Learning writing
    • Efficiency
  3. Try to be 80% open about myself and verify "what I have not lost because of this".

It's 2023, the disadvantages of blogs#

Blogs are like countryside villas on the Internet, and platforms are like city squares on the Internet. It's 2023 now, and it's the era when Internet platforms (Douyin, Bilibili, Xiaohongshu...) occupy traffic. Even if the content of a blog is exquisite, it may not be comparable to the traffic of an ordinary UP host, because most people live on Douyin, Bilibili, Xiaohongshu...

Even good wine is afraid of deep alleys. Blogs, as such, may be more like a resume. Blogs are a small-scale carnival (low traffic). If you really want traffic, you should promote yourself on major platforms to expand traffic.

Perhaps this is just a resume. Isn't it?
