Output#

Be cautious in choosing your competitors, because in the end, you will become very similar to them.

Always studying who, envying who, you will imitate the behavior of who, and in the end, you may become who.

First, don't take idiots as competitors.
Second, don't look for opponents around you.
Third, choose the top people in the field as role models.

Choose role models who are far away

The objects we imitate can be divided into the following two types:

People who are far away from us.
People around us.

The former can inspire people, because of the difference in time and space, we can hardly catch up with them; the latter is likely to become our opponents in our eyes, and a tribe can only have one chief. Choose people who are far away from us as role models, they will not provoke our competitive and selfish hearts.

You can choose great people as role models, such as Premier Zhou who said, "Read books for the rise of China."
You can choose the top people in the industry as role models, such as the Tsinghua study vlogger.

Play the role of a great person

If you were Elon Musk, how would you make decisions when faced with a problem? The most common question is, if you were Elon Musk, what would you eat in the morning? Or if you were Yu Minhong? Or if you were Confucius?

Okay, the real purpose of playing the role of a great person is: to think like a great person!

The inspiration of great people to ordinary people is huge. Although we cannot reach the level of great people, it does not prevent us from climbing towards the direction of great people.
An ordinary person, or a person who is always unhappy, if he can consistently admire a great person, he will definitely reduce many low-level troubles and easily free himself from vulgar information.

Therefore, it is worth asking yourself a question every morning: Who do I want to play today?

Once you do this, believe that you already have 50% of the power of a great person.

There is another story about Musk's breakfast that can be shared. Once Musk was on a business trip in China, instead of going to a hotel, he bought a pancake from a roadside stall. Whether from the perspective of saving or being down-to-earth, Musk is an admirable person.

I am not only seeking results. If it's just for the sake of results, people are easily tempted to take shortcuts. In the process of taking shortcuts, people can easily lose sight of reality, and even gradually lose their enthusiasm. I believe that what is truly important is the pursuit of true will. As long as you have the will to move towards the truth, even if you fail this time, you will eventually achieve your goal.

Sima Guang's "Zizhi Tongjian, Volume Six" has a passage:
King Anli of the Wei Kingdom asked Kong Bin, who is the greatest scholar in the world?

King Anli shook his head and said, "Lu Zhonglian is probably not even considered one. This person is inconsistent in his words and deeds. His behavior is forced and not a natural expression of his true nature."
At this point, Kong Bin said a classic line: "To act without ceasing is to become a gentleman."

Kong Bin meant to say, "People have to force themselves to do certain things. If you keep doing this, you will become a gentleman; if you keep doing this without changing, gradually it will become a habit and blend with your nature."

You can say that someone is pretending, but this is just a process. The process itself is the result, the most real result that is not a shortcut.

Inspiration: The importance of clarifying the correct concept of time and changing life goals.
Summary: It tells the story of Ivan Ilyich's time accounting. His concept of time is "Apart from time, people have nothing. Time is the only asset of human beings." For more than 50 years, he has been recording his daily "expenditure" of time without interruption, with the record consisting of "events + categories + time spent," but unlike others, his records lack reflection and details, only objective bookkeeping.
This eccentric person has achieved extraordinary achievements. His unique life is closely related to his clear goals and his ability to put events into the most important things.
Clear goals + event classification + objective data + periodic summaries (changes in efficiency, what hasn't changed, why...) - measurable results + objective self-analysis.
The above is my personal insight.

It is said that happy people don't look at the clock (not bound by time).
